Megan Johnston

Finance Team
AAT Level 4 Professional Diploma in Accounting

Did you go straight into your Apprenticeship from school, if no what did you do previous to this role?

Yes, I finished my A-levels in May 2019 and Started at Blenheim in August 2019.

What made you apply for an apprenticeship?

I always thought it would be more beneficial getting qualifications whilst gaining work experience as many jobs now look for experience over degrees.

Why did you choose Blenheim and what attracted you to our apprenticeship scheme?

Uni was never an option for me as I was never 100% sure, through school, what I wanted to do, so I spent time going through all apprenticeship vacancies reading up on the areas of work. Saw this apprenticeship and knew that was what I wanted to do. I live just down the road so Blenheim was perfect for me! I also know a lot of people from school who had part time jobs at Blenheim and loved it so I knew I would enjoy it.

What are your key roles/responsibilities?

Various VAT returns/ Gift aid/ Various month end reports/ Assisting in the management accounts team/ cashbook/ ad hoc jobs and queries.

What do you like best about the job?

Having responsibilities in different areas & Friendly atmosphere in the finance team and other teams around Blenheim.

How are you finding the apprenticeship and how is it helping you progress?

Working within a finance role helps with my college course as I am able to relate the two together. Progressing through the finance team has almost mirrored how I advanced through from AAT level 2 to AAT level 4 which has been a big help!

What do you hope to gain and once your apprenticeship has finished?

I’m hoping to have completed my AAT Level 4 by the end of 2022. After I have qualified, it would be great to continue working at Blenheim.
