Blenheim strengthens links with Oxfordshire Youth
With a history spanning over 70 years, Oxfordshire Youth is the leading youth organisation for the youth sector in Oxfordshire.
Oxfordshire Youth supports a diverse network of youth sector organisations, brought together through its merger with Oxfordshire Children’s Voluntary Youth Service, together reaching over 26,000 young people.
Its mission is to meet the needs and aspirations of young people and to build a resilient youth sector in Oxfordshire.
The charity uses a combination of informal education, youth work & non-formal learning to improve young people’s quality of life.
“Blenheim and the Spencer-Churchill family has had a long and very close relationship with Oxfordshire Youth for almost its entire existence,” said Lady Henrietta Spencer-Churchill.
“We are delighted to further underline our long-term commitment and support for such an important and worthwhile organisation, whose work today is, if anything, even more vital than ever,” she added.
As part of its official role as a charity partner, Blenheim is to be the lead sponsor for the Youth Awards, a major event recognising significant achievements of young people in Oxfordshire, which will take place in May 2020.
Blenheim also staged the business launch of Oxfordshire Youth’s Future Leaders Programme in the Orangery on 13th September.
“Blenheim has been a supporter of our work for over 60 years and we are very excited, and extremely grateful, they have agreed to further invest in children and young people in Oxfordshire by supporting Oxfordshire Youth long term as charity partner,” said Oxfordshire Youth CEO Jodie Lloyd-Jones.
The 10th Duke of Marlborough was President of the organisation, then known as the Oxfordshire Associations of Boys Clubs, in the 1960s before his son, the 11th Duke, took over in the early 1970s.
In 2011 he stepped down from the role in favour of his daughter Henrietta Spencer-Churchill, who still remains as President and is closely involved with the charity.
As part of its support, Blenheim also hosts an annual fundraiser for Oxfordshire Youth in December which raises around £12,000.
