Hosted by comedian and impressionist Rory Bremner, the Blenheim Ball in aid of Starlight will feature a reception in the Palace’s Great Hall, dinner in the Long Library and an auction by Sotheby's UK Chairman Harry Dalmeny.
In 2018, George Spencer-Churchill, Marquess of Blandford, took on the Talisker Whisky Atlantic Challenge to raise funds for Starlight, the leading UK charity that uses the power of play to make the experience of illness and treatment better for children and their families.
“George and the team rowed 3,000 miles across the Atlantic, and to welcome them home and carry on the fundraising he hosted the first Blenheim Ball for the charity,” said Cathy Gilman, Chief Executive of Starlight.
“In 2019 the event raised over £800,000 and we are hoping for the same result this year. All money raised will help Starlight to continue to provide the opportunity to play for seriously ill children in hospital, and at home,” she added.
Starlight was co-founded by actress Emma Samms in 1986 and uses the power of play to make the experience of illness and treatment better for children and their families across the UK.
In 2021, the charity reached 1.2 million children in hospital in the UK with a range of boxes filled with fun toys, games, books and games consoles to entertain and distract when going through treatment.
The charity also holds fun weekend breaks and days out for seriously ill children and their families for a much-deserved break from treatment
