Did you go straight into your Apprenticeship from school, if no what did you do previous to this role?

I started my apprenticeship when I was 16 and just finished my GCSEs. I had very little understanding and knowledge of the working world.

What made you apply for an apprenticeship?

I applied for an apprenticeship because I was never the most academic individual at School, The fact I could learn on the job and gain an understanding of working life while gaining valuable qualifications and earning money was the perfect choice to me.

Why did you choose Blenheim Palace and what attracted you to our apprenticeship scheme?

I chose an apprenticeship at Blenheim because I live locally in Woodstock, Blenheim was part of my childhood, so getting the chance to start my career here was a great opportunity. To be able to study at such a huge organisation which deals with all types of visitors was a great way to start my career. It gave me the opportunity to learn on the job, gaining essential experience.

What are your key roles/responsibilities?

I work closely with the Guest Services Manager to ensure the department goals are met, we have the correct staffing levels each day and to ensure the smooth running of the day to day. Every day brings different challenges operationally that we need to overcome, so I am learning a huge amount.

What do you like best about the job?

I love meeting and interacting with guests from all around the world and the team I work with are so supportive.

How are you finding the apprenticeship and how is it helping you progress?

The degree apprenticeship is hard work, but I am already noticing the benefits of being able to learn the management theory and applying it to my job. My manager and the college are really supportive so they have made the process achievable.

What do you hope to gain and once your apprenticeship has finished?

After my degree apprenticeship I hope to be ready and able to take the next step in my carer progression and look at a higher management role.
